Troon Vineyard, Applegate Valley, Oregon

Troon Vineyard is a boutique winery in the heart of the Applegate Valley in Southern Oregon. The owners write, "  We (the Martin family) purchased the property, with its established vines and Winery, from founder Richard Troon who planted the original vineyard in 1972.   We spent years researching and identifying the practices that lead to the creation of the best wines.   In France, Italy, Washington, California, and Oregon, we learned everything we could about grape growing and wine making.   We settled on this site for a variety of reasons, but one stood out as most important.   Troon reflected our goal of creating quality wines for every occasion: from light, bright wines for the summer picnic, to big, bold world class reds for that special moment.

We currently produce the following 100% varietal wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Zinfandel and Merlot.   Two unique blends are currently available, Druid Fluid (Zinfandel, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon) and River Guide Red (Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon).   All wines are made from estate grown grapes. New wines released this summer include a Cabernet Blush and a Merlot Blush and our new Limited Reserve wines featuring Cabernet Franc, and Syrah.

Team Troon is made up of hard working, wine loving individuals. Herb Quady (Winemaker) grew up in the vineyard, on his family winery in Madera, California. Prior to moving to the Applegate Valley, Quady, was Associate Winemaker for Bonny Doon and Quady Winery. Our wine making philosophy has always been to let the nature of the grapes express themselves, to bring out the unique characteristics of each vintage naturally, not through artificial means.

We plan to continue to expand our blending practices as a way to create new and interesting wines.   Michael Six and Richard Lorelli have been working the vineyard as long as most people can remember, using organic practices whenever possible (no pesticides or herbicides are used in the vineyard).

The face of Troon Vineyard will be changing and growing over the next few years.   We invite you to join us this summer as we open to the public for the first time to unveil our new wines including our Limited Reserve wines, and our “wines of summer”.   We will also be releasing our 2002 Zinfandel – the best Zinfandel ever to come out of the winery, out of Oregon, and perhaps the best Zinfandel ever produced - anywhere.   Construction is underway on an architecturally stunning winery and tasting room scheduled for completion in time for the summer of 2005."
