Borgo Scopeto Chianti Classico, Tuscany 2005
750 ml The first reference to Chianti Classico appeared in a document in 1398. The wines have garnered a rich reputation, but in the past there were problems with imitators, so a group of producers established a voluntary association to defend and promote the authentic wine - the Chianti Classico Wine Consortium (popularly called the “Black Rooster” Consortium). Wines bearing the “black rooster” seal must meet certain requirements in order to be described as Chianti Classico.
Made from the Sangiovese grape, this wine is a deep ruby red color, and is full and intense, with notes of wild berries and pleasing scents of vanilla and cocoa. Well-structured, dry and elegant, this Chianti has the potential to age for 10 years or more.

Barba Colle Morino Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, 2005
750 ml Winery Tasting Notes: "Great viscosity, with muscular structure make this a very compelling vino. The aromas are of blackened fruit, sweet smoke, and ripe plum. Very low yields and seaside exposure give this wine an unexpected array of richness and subtlety." Perfect with cioppino and some crusty bread rubbed with garlic, olives or olive tapenade, and especially pizza!
